BURSTING WITH ACTIVITIES

Canada’s largest city is full of things to do. The Toronto Zoo is a great place to start. The zoo is a dynamic place open year round to visitors. Currently, there are some adorable zoo babies that are gaining great popularity at the zoo. The rare white lion cubs are only on exhibit for a few hours on the weekends, so if you get the chance, plan your trip to be able to spot these exotic babies. You’ll also be captivated by the polar bear cub, and the amazing polar bear exhibit that includes an area where you can watch these majestic creatures underwater! Keep your ears open for news of when the twin Giant Panda cubs begin to welcome visitors; they are an exciting addition to this zoo.

Enjoy a view from the clouds at the CN Tower. Almost every movie filmed in the city has included this elegant tower in its view. Take the elevator up to the viewing platform, and stay for a memorable meal at the peak of the city. You can spend hours at the Royal Ontario Museum, or connect with the country’s love of ice hockey at the Hockey Hall of Fame. Come in March and indulge your inner fashionista at Toronto Fashion Week – one of the largest in North America. If you’re visiting in September be sure to take in a film or two at the Toronto International Film Festival. You might even spot a few of your favorite celebrities around the city.

Toronto sits on the shores of Lake Ontario, so you can visit a variety of beaches, or take a ferry to one of the islands nearby for the day. Toronto Island Park is a favorite getaway for the locals. Enjoy the scenic ferry ride across, and then spend a few hours enjoying bike rides, walking, beaches, birdwatching, gardens, and maybe even a picnic.

EAT AROUND THE WORLD WITHOUT LEAVING THE CITY

Toronto has welcomed residents hailing from over 100 countries around the world. As a result, you can enjoy almost every ethnic dish possible while visiting. For a casual start, take a stroll around St. Lawrence Market. It is in an older area of Toronto, and you can enjoy the sights while trying all the different kinds of food in the market. Whether you want to try a few bites of everything, or sit down for a meal, this market is a great choice.

If you want traditional ethnic food, you will want to make your way to restaurants in Chinatown, Greektown, Little Italy, Koreatown, Portugal Village, Little India, Little Poland, and Little Malta. After these neighborhood visits and dining experiences, you can say you’ve traveled the world while staying in one Canadian city! Or, feel free to challenge your palate to Jamaican-Italian food at Rasta Pasta, or French-Carribean food down Augusta Avenue. Be sure to check out Toronto’s multicultural calendar. If you’re in town during one of the numerous multicultural celebrations, you can take part, and enjoy both the food and culture of countries from around the world.
